I hear lots of talk about how society is based on some “ism”, fascism being a typical favorite. Of course some say no, it’s based on socialism. Others say it’s communism, marxism, collectivism or maybe a combination of some or all those things. So which is it?
Well, I say none of those suggestions are correct – more on this to follow. Those “ism experts” also make a 2nd ignorant assumption, explained below, yet I never hear any of them being called out for their inaccuracies. My guess is there must be a lot of people stuck in the same mindset. Very annoying.
I would argue that no society has ever been based on those systems because it would be an impossibility. What those shortsighted observers are really trying to describe is what kind of economic philosophy a country has, or, to put it more accurately, what kind of economic system the govt is based on. So first off lets get this straight, society is not the govt and govt is not society; and to that, add govt is not a synonym for society and vice versa. A problem here as I see it is people get hung up on the use of the word “country”, which gets inappropriately thrown around like so many other cheap words for the sake of convenience. Notice when someone mentions “the country” they’re not just alluding to ordinary citizens. No no, one must include the govt to make the term complete. How convenient for those in power. “The country” is just one big happy family and we’re all in this together. What crap. We also need to admit to ourselves that the people who get to decide & determine which economic ideas & policies the govt will follow is always chosen by those in govt and never society, notwithstanding that curious thing called “democracy”.
The 2nd annoying error they make is their appalling nonchalance in assuming those theoretical systems measure up as sound & legitimate economic systems. All of them are phony, illegitimate & immoral and should be labeled as pure bullshit. They are not belief mechanisms that people rigorously study, test and then adopt, like those in philosophy or science, and have never been validated through painful scrutiny & careful examination — not that it would legitimize them if they were. In addition, those isms cannot accurately describe the various ways govts can or do choose to operate. All govts operate differently in one degree or another because their actions are simply capricious, random, thoughtless and politically driven.
Those lengthy high sounding doctrines are just another way to label or describe some of the perverse govt economic policies they often employ. They are mere unscrupulous ideas used by evil people beholden to the “something for nothing” mindset in order to acquire money, power and wealth for their own benefit which comes at the expense of their victims, the proletariat.
Govts today are a “mixed bag” (another cheap term which should be thrown under the bus) of phony ideologies using whatever methods they need to achieve their so-called goals. Govt people are all to often arbitrary & irrational and regularly shoot from the hip using whatever ideas or schemes they can conjure up in order to fleece the populace. Of course they claim to be staunch advocates of a certain faith, but they’re either lying thru their teeth or simply showing their stupidity. They do not care about what any of these isms stand for because people in govt care about one thing and only one thing: personal gratification thru hard core self interest. They’ll do or say anything to bring that about and to hell with following some dorky pseudo-ideology.
One of the main reasons most govts lean toward the fascism fraud is simply greed. They stand to gain more taxes & other illegitimate income than they would using the socialism fraud. In theory, fascism permits private ownership of the means of production which allows for the profit motive to remain and encourages people to produce. A socialist govt in theory owns all business & industry which naturally is an impediment to production. It all comes down to a realization that most govt credos in the world today can be described as deranged with both fascist & socialist elements, with a stronger emphasis on the former. But this is still not a complete description because as mentioned above govts will always inject other insane economic schemes depending on which way the wind is blowing on any particular day.
So the bottom line here is this: we need remind people to stop being lazy by taking the easy way out and saying all governments today are just fascist or socialists. To repeat, people in govts everywhere all share the same trait, they are self-serving/self-indulgent greedy a-holes who don’t give a damn about some high sounding theory. None of them are dedicated to any one fraudulent economic system or combination. All govt entities qualify as Heinz 57 varieties and instead of labeling them a “mixed bag” we should call them what they really are: MIXED UP!. . .and out of control.
Not sure how to respond to that other than to mention this:
‘The Political Spectrum: The Correct Delineation’
“If we want to navigate through complex territory, we need an accurate map.”…
See also, the URL embedded in the above article, ‘Ideological Pedigree Table of Values and Views’
…”Fortunately, there is a relatively easy way to cut through the froth of passions and heated rhetoric to get at the truth of the matter. We will do this by taking the three classes in question – tyrants, progressives and conservatives – and place them side by side. We will then look at how their values compare in regard to important issues of practical politics and philosophy. This should help clarify the situation by bringing out the underlying political pedigrees and ideological links.”…
July 28, 2023 at 10:25 am #305Mr. Kohlmayer makes some good points in his article but one of the main issues with my post isn’t what kind of political philosophy some group espouses or where someone stands on the left-right political spectrum, which Kohlmayer correctly points out is outdated & useless. It’s that way too many people live in a kind of delusional & oversimplified world which allows for lazy/sloppy thinking, believing false assumptions, and spending as little time possible searching for the easy way out solution to problems which are intricate & complicated. It seems like it’s become a mass psychosis as the general population all too often falls for lies which are repeated over and over and finally accepted as mainstream thought. Far too many people are intellectually lazy and it’s now so widespread you could call it a pandemic it seems to me. People nowadays simply refuse to put much thought & effort finding answers to those tough questions about life. That is unless they’re trying to figure out how to scam someone.
But what’s really discouraging about all this is the high percentage of people supposedly on our side that fall into that category. Sure, most of those on the dark side of the force are guilty of those traits in spades, but when you realize the problem is that serious with those on our side it’s enough to make you want to give up hope and resign from humanity. Maybe it’s time to jump off this sinking ship?
Any “ism” other than individualism is tyranny, be it enforced by force; coercion; propaganda; or monopoly. In the present, society seems to be a loose hodgepodge of all of the preceding (except individualism), with the one constant being the existence of a way to coerce and control the majority- and once a degree of control is established and people get used to it, it never ceases to exist, as it’s victims will just keep building new ones if anything happens to the old.
August 22, 2023 at 11:43 pm #325This brings up the problem that human nature carries with it so many flaws and weaknesses. Evil people will eventually come to recognize this and will, perforce, use the opportunity to take advantage and exploit it for their own personal gain & profit and to hell with the consequences. By understanding these deficiencies in their fellow man, they will use them against him to manipulate, control and finally enslave him. And the proof of the pudding is simply to look back on history to see example after example of this phenomenon. Of course this is a paradox that philosophers have been contemplating for centuries and have yet to come up with a some kind of resolution to explain it. Guess we’ll just have to keep dealing with it as long as mankind roams the earth.
